Merlin Answers His Accusers

You say I spoke with daemons

Danced with succubi

Spilled my seed on Holy Ground

Lay naked on the pagan mounds

I had no muse

I took no wife

I learnt other loves

No stranger to appetite

Yes I know the laws of earth and sky

Of water, air and fire

The laws of maid and man

Of bramble, branch and briar

These things come to anyone

Who humbly bows in praise

Who waits upon the One who creates

The One whose love orders our days

The scriptures encourage the getting of Wisdom

This I did and was given much

Should I be afraid of those who say

‘Do not taste, do not touch’?
